FERAL Animal Survival Growth Stages: Baby, Teen, Adult and Elder Explained

Last updated:

Every life stage in FERAL Animal Survival and what the GROWTH meter means: teen at 34%, adult at 67%, elder beyond adult, ability unlocks, and what death resets.

Quick answer

Your animal has four life stages: baby, teen at 34% GROWTH, adult at 67%, and elder beyond adult. The GROWTH meter is the percentage of that journey — eating and drinking push it up, and each threshold flips your animal into the next stage.

  • Goal banners such as GROW INTO A TEEN and GROW INTO AN ADULT name the next threshold
  • Crossing 34% grows a baby into a teen and unlocks its first ability — for a wolf, LUNGE on F
  • Death resets GROWTH to 1% and the stages start over, while your Amber balance is kept

The system is percentage-based end to end. A new wolf pup starts at 6% GROWTH, eats and drinks to push the number up, and crosses thresholds on the way: 34% for teen, an adult goal observed at 67% in one session, and elder as the stage beyond adult. Because dying drops the meter back to 1%, the stages are a per-life progression you replay rather than permanent unlocks.

BabyStarting stageBorn tiny at a low percentage, with a three-step tutorial (bite, eat, grow) and lock markers on ability slots — on the wolf, the F slot showed a 34% GROWTH tag.
Teen34%First ability unlocks — the wolf gets LUNGE (press F to leap at prey) — and the goal banner switches to GROW INTO AN ADULT.

What the GROWTH meter actually tracks

The meter is a plain percentage of progress, and the game keeps it in front of you. Goal banners name the next milestone — GROW INTO A TEEN first, then GROW INTO AN ADULT — and count up toward the threshold, like the 39/67% progress shown on one teen wolf banner. Mid-stage numbers surface during play too: one player's teen wolf showed 'We are 43%' while working toward adult, and right after a revival the banner reads GROW INTO A TEEN 1/34%, showing exactly where the climb restarts.

The loop behind the meter is the game itself. The official description sums it up: be born as a tiny wolf or a wobbly deer, find food and water, and grow from baby to adult in the wild — in other words, eating and drinking are what drive the percentage up. For the practical side of that, see how to find food and how to find water.

How a stage-up plays out

Stage changes happen on screen, not in a menu. When a wolf pup hits 34%, the F slot that carried a 34% GROWTH lock marker unlocks into LUNGE — press F to leap at your prey. A creator watching a young animal grow described the visible swap to the bigger model as 'growing into a juvenile'; the change is that noticeable.

The threshold-to-ability link holds across species, with per-animal tuning. The hippo's crusher bite also unlocks at 34% growth, and it works by holding the button to open wide and letting go to bite — the longer you hold, the harder it bites. Other animals carry their own abilities and their own thresholds, so watch your lock markers — the wolf's F slot, for example, showed a '34% GROWTH' tag.

Adult is not the end: elder

Reaching adult changes the goal rather than ending it. The game prompts you directly — 'Your otter is an adult. Keep going to be an elder.' — so the meter keeps meaning something past 67%.

The shop mirrors this progression with Robux products named for these points in an animal's life: REVIVE BABY (R$9), REVIVE 2 (R$19), REVIVE GROWN (R$29), REVIVE ELDER (R$39), REVIVE ELDER II (R$49), plus INSTA-GROW (100%) (R$39) and INSTA-ELDER (200%) (R$99). You can browse the full listing in our shop guide, and the elder stage itself is covered in the elder stage guide.

What death does to growth

Death rewinds the whole system. When your animal dies, GROWTH resets to 1% and the stages start over: the goal banner reverts to GROW INTO A TEEN 1/34%, the F ability locks again, and your Amber balance is retained. The death screen reportedly offers a free REVIVE option, with a note about a -40% growth penalty attached.

The practical upshot: treat a life as a run. After the observed death, the stages came back in the same order at the same thresholds — the reset replays the same path you already climbed. If you are weighing revive choices after a death, our revive guide breaks down the options.

Growing from stage to stage

Filling the meter comes down to the survival loop: eat and drink, keep the percentage climbing, and protect the run from the 1% reset. Keep an eye on the goal banner for the next threshold and on the lock markers for the ability waiting at it. The fragile early stretch has its own playbook in our baby survival guide, and the full route from pup to adult is laid out step by step in how to grow adult.
