FERAL Animal Survival Map: Valley Areas and How to Navigate Them
The FERAL Animal Survival valley holds rivers, forests, a hidden lake and the deep gorge. Learn the named map areas — Den Hollow, Alder Creek, Tall Marsh, East Den Hollow, NE Mudlands — and the in-game tools that get you between them.
Quick answer
The FERAL Animal Survival valley is one open wilderness with four terrain features to explore: rivers, forests, a hidden lake and the deep gorge. The minimap and location banner name the places inside it: DEN HOLLOW (the start area), ALDER CREEK, TALL MARSH, EAST DEN HOLLOW and NE MUDLANDS. You find your way between them with the location banner, the QUESTS panel, swimmable rivers and the scent and night vision abilities.
- Discovering a new area grants +20 Amber
- QUICK quests direct you to named spots such as Tall Marsh
- While swimming, press Q to go up and E to dive down

What makes up the FERAL valley
FERAL Animal Survival unfolds in a single wilderness valley where, as the official description puts it, every animal is either the hunter or the prey. That description names four terrain features to explore: rivers, forests, a hidden lake and the deep gorge.
The list describes the valley's makeup, but the game does not publish coordinates or an official layout — there is no master list of where each feature sits. In practice you learn the map from two directions: the named locations your minimap and banner reveal as you roam, and the landmarks players use when talking about the map. One of the four features, the deep gorge, even has its own dedicated location guide.
The named locations on the minimap
These five place names are what the in-game minimap and location banner display:
Data table

- Why it matters
- +20 Amber for discovering it

- TALL MARSH

The banner is also where exploration pays. Discovering a new area pops a notification such as ALDER CREEK DISCOVERED! or DEN HOLLOW DISCOVERED!, and each discovery grants +20 Amber. Learning the map literally funds your Amber balance — other ways to earn the currency are covered in how to get amber.
Pack territories: East Den Hollow and NE Mudlands
Some of the names on the banner mark pack territory rather than neutral ground. Other packs hold these locations, and the banner tells you whose: EAST DEN HOLLOW has been displayed as GOJO'S PACK - CONTESTED!, while NE MUDLANDS was shown as IGNIS'S PACK - JOIN A PACK TO TAKE. The specific pack names above were observed in one reviewed session; treat them as examples of how territory labels read, not fixed names. Either way, a territory held by another pack is one you can contest, or one you can take by joining a pack of your own.
Landmarks players name themselves
Alongside the labeled areas, players navigate by their own landmark names. In one recorded run, a player sets a course closer to Thunder Falls specifically to enter Glacier Lake, and deliberately makes the trip in water because they judged that the safest way to move.
Know those two names, but treat them as community landmarks rather than confirmed map labels: they come from player commentary, their exact positions are not documented, and how they connect to named areas like DEN HOLLOW or TALL MARSH is not established. For reliable orientation, the labeled locations on your minimap are the skeleton of the valley.
How to find your way between areas
The banner, the quest panel, the rivers and your animal's abilities overlap into a full navigation toolkit, and each piece covers a different situation.
Let the QUESTS panel pick your destination
The QUESTS panel has QUICK and DAILY tabs, and its tasks double as destinations. Drink at Tall Marsh 0/1 directs you to that named water location, and Hunt a deer 0/1 later fills the same tab with a prey target. Every task displays its Amber reward — +36 for the Tall Marsh drink and +34 for the travel task below — and completing them pays out.
One QUICK task is a built-in odometer: Travel 600 m tracks your distance live, with the counter climbing from 72/600 to 357/600 as the player crossed the map. Even when you wander with no destination, you can watch exactly how far you have gone.
Use rivers as roads
Rivers are routes, not just scenery. You can swim in them — press Q to go up and E to dive down — and you can follow a river downstream to travel, as one player did while heading down the river just to see where it led. Rivers also supply drinking water, which is why a task like Drink at Tall Marsh points you at a water location: the same geography that moves you around the valley also keeps you alive. For everything water does for your animal, see how to find water.
Scent, night vision and the world clock
Three quieter tools round out the map-reading kit:
Tips
Scent
The scent ability shows you where different things are, so use it whenever you are looking for something specific rather than somewhere new.
Night vision
Night vision highlights other players inside the map, which makes them far easier to find.
Day and season clock
The world runs on a day and season clock — for example DAY 18 - SUMMER with an in-world time — so you always know the current day, season and time of day.
Putting it together
A practical loop: pick a named destination from the QUESTS panel, travel by river or overland while Travel 600 m counts your distance, and watch for discovery notifications as new area names appear — each one is +20 Amber. When you need to find something specific instead of somewhere new, switch on scent, and use night vision when you are mostly looking for other players.
